The Somali National Army (SNA), in collaboration with troops serving under the AUSSOM Mission, and the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF), successfully dislodged Al-Shabab fighters from their hideouts in Mubarak and Daara Salaam settlements in Lower Shabelle province. According to a statement from Somalia’s Military Command, this operation, known as Bader, has lifted the burden that Al-Shabab has placed upon the Somali people who have recently regained control of the area. During the operation, several Al-Shabab members were eliminated, preventing them from harming the Somali population. The SNA is committed to eliminating terrorist groups that threaten the security of the population, in order to establish lasting peace and security for the Somali people. The Ministry of Defense and the Somali Military Command reiterate their dedication to continuing operations against terrorists until overall security, stability, and peace are ensured in the country.

The Somali National Army (SNA) has launched a new operation known as “Hilaac operations” in settlements in the Lower Shabelle province. The SNA, in collaboration with AUSSOM troops, specifically the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) and international partners, is carrying out operations aimed at demolishing Al-Shabab bases, blocking their routes, degrading their operational capabilities, and flushing out remaining Al-Shabab members who plot attacks and assaults from these settlements. This is crucial for ensuring the peace and security of the population and areas that are vital for the country’s development. The Ministry of Defense commends the bravery of the men in uniform who are risking their lives during the holy month of Ramadan to liberate the country from terrorist groups. The ministry confirms that the Hilaac operation will continue until all Al-Shabab members are eliminated as they are an obstacle to peace and development in Somalia. In addition, Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in coordination with international partners, has carried out a targeted operation that resulted in the killing of a senior leader of the Al-Shabab group. The successful operation took place in the Hantiwadaag area, under the Awdheegle district in the Lower Shabelle region. NISA stated that the operation specifically targeted the militant leader and confirmed that no civilians were harmed. The agency emphasized that such operations will continue until the threat posed by terrorist groups to national security and public safety is fully neutralized. NISA also expressed gratitude to international partners for their ongoing support in counter-terrorism efforts and strengthening security in Somalia.
