Somaliland President H.E Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi Irro held a high-level meeting on Wednesday with the leaders of the three national political parties – Wadani, Kulmiye, and Kaah – at the Presidential Mansion. He expressed his gratitude to the parties for attending the gathering and stated that the purpose of the meeting was to have national consultations and exchange views on the current situation following Israel’s official recognition of the Republic of Somaliland. The discussions focused on the overall situation in the country, including security and diplomacy. The parties also addressed the various reactions to Israel’s recognition, including the hostility and animosity directed towards Somaliland by Somalia and its allies. President Irro emphasized the need for political maturity, and unity in leading the country through this new state. He clarified that Somaliland has no intention of engaging in war and will instead focus on seeking recognition, with Israel being the first UN Member State to grant it. He issued a stern warning to Somalia’s government and its allies, stating that Somaliland will not tolerate threats and aggression, but is prepared to defend its people, existence, and country at all costs. He also made it clear that the international community will hold Somalia and its allies accountable for any acts of aggression against Somaliland. In conclusion, President Irro urged the national political parties to play a proactive role in calming the political atmosphere and urge the public to refrain from rhetoric that may cause divisions within the Somaliland populace.
