The Somali Federal Government dispatched a military delegation to Barawe on Monday, led by Commander Abdihakiin Saed El-dheer of the Turkish-trained Haramcad. Upon arrival, he was warmly received. According to a statement released by the Haramcad Command, the purpose of the visit is to evaluate security and strengthen ongoing operations. Commander Abdihakiim also conducted an inspection visit to the new Haramcad Command base in Barawe, where he was warmly received by the Deputy Commander, Force Commander, and 1st Unit Commander of the Haramcad brigade. He received a Guard of Honor from Haramcad units and urged them to strengthen security, remain on high alert, and expedite the maintenance of peace in Barawe and its surrounding areas. On Thursday, the Somali Federal Government deployed hundreds of troops to Barawe through an airlift operation, while Southwest State troops vacated the town. Some of the troops based in Barawe left for Kismayo by boat. The political rift between the Somali Federal Government and Southwest State administration, led by Abdiasis Laftagaren, is deepening.
