The 7th Brigade, specifically the 12th Division of the Somali National Army, in collaboration with the local police force in Wanlaweyn district of Lower Shabelle region, killed Mr. Yusuf Adan Hussein, also known as Sulley, who had been sentenced to death. According to reports, the security forces received information that the fugitive was hiding in the vicinity of Wanlaweyn district, prompting them to launch a raid. Sources indicate that the initial intention of the security forces was to capture the fugitive alive and hand him over to the Armed Forces Court, but he and his militia men resisted, resulting in their deaths. The security forces then took the bodies of Sulley and the other militia fighters to Wanlaweyn police station before transferring them to a local hospital. Yusuf Sulley was the leader of a clan militia and was convicted by a military court of killing five civilians and injuring seven others in Wartra Osman on November 22. Colonel Abdilahi Abukar Hassan, also known as Shadoor, who is a judge and member of the Military Court, sentenced Yusuf Sulley and his fellow militia fighters to death in absentia. The judge also sentenced several other militia fighters to death for arson, after they set an elderly man on fire in Dudumaaye village on November 7. Additionally, six militia men were sentenced to death in absentia for murdering five civilians and injuring five others in Yaaq Bari Weyne settlement on November 11. The court ordered the Commander of the 7th Brigade, Ahmed Abdi Ali, also known as Ahmed Gaashaan, and the Wanlaweyn police district to either capture or kill the convicted militia men.
