New troops from Djibouti have officially arrived in Beledweyne, the provincial capital of the Hiiraan region, to serve in the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission (AUSSOM). They will be conducting security operations in Beledweyne and Buulo Burde towns, replacing the outgoing 11th brigade that was previously stationed in Beledweyne, Buulo Burde, and Dhuusamareeb. A ceremony was held at Ugaas Khaliif Airport in Beledweyne to welcome the new troops, led by the Commander of the 13th brigade, Colonel Ahmed Adan Abdilahi. He was received by the Commander of the outgoing 11th brigade, Colonel Mohamed Omar Saed, and other AUSSOM officers. Colonel Ahmed stated that his troops are ready to carry out their duties and will work to maintain security, pledging to closely cooperate with the Somali people and the Somali Federal Government. Colonel Mohamed encouraged the new troops to continue the efforts of the previous brigade, specifically by forging closer working relationships with the Somali community and supporting peace. After the handover ceremony, some of the 13th brigade soldiers were sent to Buulo Burde to begin their security operations, while the 11th brigade returned to Djibouti. This rotational change was implemented by AUSSOM to maintain the quality of operations and expedite the maintenance of security in Somalia.
