Danab Commandos, a specially trained counterterrorism unit, carried out a planned operation last night targeting an illegal checkpoint set up by Al-Shabab in the Ali Farhaane settlement. The settlement is located 10 km from Kuunyo Barrow in the Lower Shabelle region. The operation, which was meticulously planned, successfully eliminated Al-Shabab leaders and fighters who were present at the checkpoint during the raid. The objective of the operation was to dismantle checkpoints where Al-Shabab collects illegal taxes from civilians and vehicles traveling on the highway that connects Lower Shabelle and Lower Jubba regions. This measure aims to improve the freedom of movement for trade and ensure the safety of people living in these two regions.
