The US Embassy in Mogadishu has officially announced that Justice Davis, an American diplomat, has taken over as the acting US Ambassador to Somalia – Charge d’Affaires. This announcement was made through an official statement posted on the US Embassy’s Twitter account. According to the statement, Davis’s appointment is intended to ensure the continuity of diplomatic ties between the United States and Somalia during a time of changing security and political situations in the region. The embassy also disclosed that Davis will work towards promoting US interests in Somalia, in line with the “America First” policies of US President Donald Trump, which prioritize US security, stabilizing the region, and continuing cooperation in the fight against terrorism. Davis has held various diplomatic posts and is expected to maintain close working relationships with Somalia and other countries in order to support peace, development, and state-building. This appointment is particularly significant as the US plays a crucial role in ongoing efforts to combat Al-Shabab and support Somalia’s security agencies. The US Embassy has promised to continue supporting the Somali people and government, with Justice Davis serving as the highest-ranking diplomat based in Mogadishu until a new ambassador is appointed.
