We paid 23% of the debt that was handed over to me, and we have not incurred any new debt during my custodianship, said Deputy Minister
The new Minister of the Ministry of Information, Culture and National Guidance, Honorable Barkhad Jama Batuun, has expressed his feelings on his new tasks and the heavy responsibility entrusted to him.
Hon. Barkhad Jama Batuun stated that for nearly five years he has been the voice of the people as an MP elected by the public, and thanks Allah for being entrusted to become the general voice of the Somaliland nation.
He said, “For nearly five years, I have been speaking as the voice of the people who elected me. Today, by the grace of Allah, the President has entrusted me to speak as the general voice of my nation, the cause of my people of Somaliland, all the arms of the forces, and the flag.”
The Minister also prayed to Allah to protect him in carrying out this heavy national responsibility and to make him leave a positive legacy.
He pledged to turn the Ministry of Information into a leading center for the advancement of knowledge, religion, culture, and public awareness.
He said: “As long as I am here, God willing, we will make the Ministry of Information, Culture and national Guidance a hub where knowledge, the home of religion and the Qur’an, wisdom and literature converge; a place where national awareness and patriotism are fortified, and a platform for arts where the entertainment and creativity of the nation unite.”
The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Information, Hon. Musa Askar Guleed, confirmed that the Ministry has not incurred any new debt during the period he served as Minister (acting).“
“I paid 23% of the debt that was transferred to me, and we have not taken on any new debt during that time,” he said.
The Minister officially took over the mantle of heading the ministry on Saturday, a position to which he was recently appointed by the President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro.
