Somaliland gov’t on Wednesday confirmed that it has recalled its envoy to Djibouti, Hon. Mohamed Dahir Ukuse for consultations after Djibouti strongly opposed Israeli’s recognition to the republic of Somaliland.

A statement issued by the ministry of Foreign Affairs and Int’l Cooperation cited that the reason for summoning Somaliland envoy to Djibouti home is part of wider re-structuring of Somaliland’s diplomacy.

Somaliland’s move to recall its representative to Djibouti follows the recent UN Security Council debate in which Djibouti strongly defied Israeli’s official recognition to the republic of Somaliland.

The Presidential Affairs Minister of Somaliland, Hon. Khadar Hussein Abdi who was asked about the actions that Somaliland gov’t will take when it comes to the countries that have diplomatic offices in Somaliland and which strongly oppose Somaliland’s recognition.

He responded by saying that Somaliland gov’t will deal with the issue through diplomacy.

In another move, the Djibouti gov’t banned citizens holding Somaliland travel documents entry into her country.
