Beledweyne regional governor Omar Osman Alasow on Wednesday confirmed that Abdi Mumin Elmi alias Abdi Hiish who was among the officers of the Somali National Army was killed in the fighting that took place in Moqokori district on last Monday.
The later Abdi Hiish was among the officers of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) who went missing during the fighting. The news of his missing has become story of the day for the past 24 hours.
The regional governor Alasow issued a statement in which he conveyed his sincere condolences to the family, relatives and the Somali populace for the passing of late Abdi Hashi who was NISA officer. He was among the most active officers who was operating in Hiiraan province.
The brother of late Abdi Hashi who was named Ahmed Mumin Elmi alias Ahmed Geedi was also killed in a fighting that occurred in Gumare settlement which is under the authority of Moqokori district in Hiiraan province.
Al-Shabab took control of Moqkori district and Ahmed Geedi was among the troops that gained the control of Gumare settlement on last Saturday which lies 10 km from Moqokori district although the government lost control of the settlement on last Monday.
Their sibling who was named Mohamed Mumin Elmi alias Saney was assassinated by Al-Shabab in Jan. 14, 2023. He was among senior Somali military officers and armed Al-Shabab operatives shot him dead in Mogadishu days after he returned from the frontlines in Hiiraan province.
Their father Mumin Elmi Idow and mother Halimo Abdi Hirey received sincere condolences from at home and abroad for the loss of their sons in the war with Al-Shabab.
