The council also cautioned against repeating past mistakes, as Somalia has previously faced serious political disputes due to attempts to extend mandates. Specifically, the council referenced the tensions and security challenges that arose from the political crisis in 2021. The council urged the government to refrain from taking any actions that could result in a term extension, warning that such actions could reignite political instability and undermine the country’s fragile progress.
