Several soldiers were injured in an attack on Garowe Central Police Station, which occurred shortly after two soldiers were detained for possessing alcohol. The attackers were soldiers from the Duufaan brigade who had recently returned to Garowe after completing operations against ISIS in Al-Miskaad Mountain. They attempted to forcibly release their fellow soldiers who were in police custody for the alcohol possession. One of the detained soldiers was injured during the capture. The police officers on duty at the station resisted the attack, which involved the use of heavy weapons. Although the soldiers were unable to release their comrades, three of them sustained injuries. The attack caused a sense of insecurity in Garowe, as it took place in a central location with heavy traffic and local residents. The Puntland security agencies have not yet commented on the incident. However, the Duufaan brigade has claimed that their soldiers were injured and tortured during the attack.
