The defense minister of Uganda, Hon. Jacob Marksons Oboth has revealed recently that the security situation in Somalia is deteriorating and called to boost the African troops stationed in Somalia.
The minister pointed out that in order to prevent the territorial expansion of the militant group of Al-Shabab will weaken the achievements that the Somali army made while the militant group is trying to take over major areas.
Uganda defense minister made the remarks in a ministerial meeting where the ministers of troop contributing countries (TCC’s) are currently attending the high level meeting in Kampala.
He warmed that the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Al-Shabab poses a major threat to the existence of Somali and the stability of the wider region of the Horn of Africa.
He said: “Terrorists still pose a major threat to Somalia and the Horn of Africa. We are at risk of losing the achievements of the operations which we fought very hard in order to get it.”
The warning from the gov’t of Uganda follows after the militant group of Al-Shabab yesterday launched an attack of the second biggest military base in Wargaadhi settlement in Middle Shabelle province.
