ADDIS ABABA, 20th December, 2018 (WAM) — The UAE Embassy in Addis Ababa has participated in the celebration of the United Nations Economic Commission for African of the ‘World Arabic Language Day’ The celebration, held at the commission’s premises in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, was attended by senior officials, Arab ambassadors and representatives of international organisations in Ethiopia, along with members of the UAE Embassy.
During the celebration, a meeting was held to discuss the importance of the Arabic language in Ethiopia, with the aim of building bridges of understanding between the Arabic and the Amharic (one of the Ethiopian Semitic languages), as well as promoting the Arabic language locally and internationally.
Coinciding with the ‘Year of Zayed’, the embassy donated several Arabic books to the commission’s library.
