The Commander of the Ground Forces of the Somali National Army (SNA) General Sahal Abdillahi Osman on Wednesday travelled to Dhuusamareeb, the administrative capital of Galmudug state.
The Commander left Mogadishu, Somali capital and received a warm welcome upon arrival at Ugaas Nuur airport in Dhuusamareeb.
The Commander was greeted by the Commander of the 21th Division of the Somali National Army (SNA), Colonel Mohamed Dhagaweyne and other officers of the Djiboutian troops that serve in the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
Reports say that the objective of the visit of the Commander to Dhuusamareeb is to expedite the operations which are aimed to drive out the militant group of Al-shabab.
There is a movement of Somali defense forces which is underway in Galguduud province which is aimed to liberate settlements from Al-shabab militants in the East of Galguduud region.
The visit of the Commander of the Somali National Army (SNA) to Dhuusamareeb came after the Somali National Army (SNA), backed by local forces seized in a fierce fighting with Al-Shabab militants from settlements under El-dheer district in Galguduud region.
The Somali Army dislodged Al-Shabab militants in Ali Andhole, Baraagta Shadoor and Baraagta Sheikh Ali Abdilahi settlements.
Reports say that Al-Shabab fighters fought very hard in Ali Andhole settlement and failed to remain control of it.
The settlement is nearby to Awsweyne settlement which Al-Shabab militants dug trenches in order to defend El-buur and Galhareeri towns.
