The Achievements of the war against Al-Shabab militant group in Middle Shabelle province

It was just the holy month of Ramadan when the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Al-Shabab launched an unprecedented attacks against Somali army stationed in the frontlines in Middle Shabelle province. The Somali Army backed by local clan forces and with the support of int’l partners responded swiftly the increased attacks that the militant group waged against the Somali troops. The Somali gov’t also carried out airstrikes targeting Al-Shabab hideouts. The airstrikes were supported by ground assaults conducted by gallant Somali troops. The gallant Somali troops defended Al-Shabab from the local residents. This has weakened the operational capacity of the militant group, and did not allow them to take over the liberated districts from the Somali troops.

However, the Somali gov’t carried out two airstrikes in Al-Shabab’s stronghold in Jilib targeting the group’s biggest bases. The airstrike which was carefully planned and executed resulted the death of large number of AL-Shabab militant group including senior leaders who were playing a crucial role in the operations of the militant group of Al-Shabab. Security experts said that the militant group of Al-shabab planned for a long time when it comes to attacks the group waged against the Somali troops stationed in Middle Shabelle region. Al-Shabab confirmed that they lost senior leader by the name of Yusuf Dhignaas who played a crucial role when it comes to the war in Middle Shabelle province. The Somali gov’t did not halt its anti-terrorism operations and carried out airstrikes targeting Al-Shabab hideouts. The airstrikes weakened the capacity of the group.

Security experts confirmed the unprecedented attacks the militant group waged against Somali troops ended in failure. Large number of Al-Shabab’s combat vehicles were destroyed which has weakened the group’s operational capability . It is now clear that the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Al-Shabab was on the brink of collapse. The militant group held a mourning in Jilib district which is clear that the group is on its last legs. The group commenced a propaganda campaign in which they took pictures in areas nearby the capital Mogadishu to indicate that they have come closer to the capital. The incumbent Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud showed bravery and went to the frontlines to oversee the anti-terrorism operations against the militant group of Al-shabab. The President’s visit to the frontlines boosted the moral of men and women in uniform who bravely fought against the militant group. The Somali gov’t once again reiterated its commitment to eliminate Al-shabab remnants from the country.
