Hargeisa– Somaliland gov’t on Sunday commenced the deportation of undocumented Ethiopian migrants.
The immigration authorities started the operation to apprehend illegal migrants in Hargeisa, Somaliland capital.
Security forces were seen in main markets of the capital arresting illegal migrants.
The authorities did not comment about the move but it is believed that those who were staying in the country illegally will be deported to their homeland.
Police men were seen driving police vehicles, nabbing Ethiopian illegal migrants from markets and villages in the capital.
The operation conducted by Somaliland police is part of an ongoing efforts by Somaliland gov’t to stop the influx of refugees and Ethiopian migrants coming to the country illegally.
Most of undocumented migrants are deported from Somaliland for security reasons.
