Somalia’s Prime Minister, Mohmed Husein Roble, has urged the members of the public to avoid large gatherings after Covid-19 cases surged ahead of the scheduled anti government rallies on Friday as declared by Somalia’s opposition groups.

The PM called on the public to adhere and follow health directives released by the ministry of health.

This comes days after the council of presidential candidates have vowed to hold anti-protests in Mogadishu.

Health minister, Fozia Abikar, said that there was a second wave infections in the country as the number of patients admitted into Martini hospital has risen.

Somalia registered 19 new cases on last Tuesday bringing the total cases to 5273.

Five patients succumbed to Civid-19 raising the number of fatalities to 154.

The number of people who have fully recovered from the disease stand at 3750.
