Somali National Army in collaboration with US Africa Command, conducted airstrikes in Bulo Burte district in Hiran region, on February 20, 2025.
The mission behind the airstrike was to prevent Alshabab raid on the district.
The Statement from the Ministry of Information said that the operation and the airstrikes targeted on Alshabab fighters who were stationed in nearby areas in Bulo Burte district.
The Somali gov’t said that in conjunction with Somali populace, is committed to intensify the ongoing anti-terrorism operations against Alshabab militant groups and Daaish who are accustomed to shed the blood of its population.
The statement went on to say that the Somali gov’t in conjunction with US and other allied friends in the world are committed to eliminate terrorist organizations like Alshabab and Daaish from its territory.
The gov’t stated that the ongoing operations are part of a strategic efforts to intensify the fight against terrorism which pose a threat to Somalia’s national security.
Al Shabab waged an unpresented attack on El Ali Ahmed district in Middle Shabelle region but it was repelled by the gov’t troops and its allied clan forces.
The gov’t said that it killed 130 alshabab fighters during the attack
