The Somali National Army on Saturday released a press statement, and said that its troops inflicted heavy casualties on AlShabab militant groups during the recent anti-terrorism operations that took place in Middle Shabelle region.
The Somali National Army also released the names of top Alshabab commanders killed during the counterterrorism operations which are aimed at flushing out the insurgents from the country.
The following are top AlShabab commanders killed:-
- Mr. Hassan Abdiwahid Abdi Dhicisow, who is also known as Hassan Gurey within AlShabab circles. He was in charge of specially trained forces operating in Galgudud, Mudug and Middle Shabelle regions. He was killed in the fighting in El Ali Ahmed district where the insurgent launched an unpresented attack on gov’t troops and its allied clan fighters.
- Mr. Dahir Buuhsade was also a top commander killed. He was a commander responsible for a unit of Al Shabab militant groups.
- Mr. Anas was also killed in the Middle Shabelle region. He was the head of Alshabab’s entire transportation.
- Mr. Khalid Jiis was also among AlShabab’s top commanders killed during the skirmishes that occurred in Lower Shabelle region. He was commander of a unit.
- Mr. Casaam was also killed during the recent fighting in Middle Shabelle region.
The government troops recaptured Biyo Adde where the insurgents launched an attack against the allied troops.
