Somali president, Turkish deputy FM discuss ties, regional stability

Mogadishu– Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with visiting Turkish deputy FM, Burhanettin Duran on Tuesday. The two sides discussed ways to expedite the Ankara accord where Somalia and Ethiopia signed an agreement. During the meeting, Hassan thanked the deputy FM the role that Turkey plays when it comes to the Horn and ways to consolidate bilateral ties between Somalia and Turkey. Turkish deputy FM Burhanettin Duran visited Ethiopia before coming to Somalia. During his stay in Ethiopia, he discussed with Ethiopian officials when it comes to the implementation of Ankara accord and how Ethiopia will secure sea access in Somalia. Somalia’s FM Mr. Ahmed Moalim Fiqi received Turkish deputy FM and discussed ways to consolidate the bilateral ties between Somalia and Turkey. Prof. Burhanettin conveyed a greeting from Turkish FM and which was addressed to his Somalian counterpart.
