Mogadishu-Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud delivered a speech to Somalia’s joint parliamentary session on Saturday. The President has formally opened the sixth session of the Federal Parliament in Mogadishu. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud lauded the war efforts against ISIS by Puntland Security Forces, saying it a victory for peace and stability in Somalia. He said that Puntland waged war against ISIS terrorist group. The President said: ” We stand with Puntland State Forces who have waged war against Daesh group, the Federal Gov’t of Somalia is with the forces and the people of Puntland.” President Mohamud said the rebuilding of the Navy and the Air Force had been completed, noting the two arms of the Somali National Army are now capable of providing naval and air security to the country. During the speech he delivered to the joint parliamentary session, the president announced that the first satellite will be launched into space in Africa will take off in Somalia by the end of the year. Turkey is building the facility as part of its aspirations to venture into the space, joining major players such as the U.S., UK and Russia.
