The Somali gov’t apprehended senior officer of the allied forces known as Ma’awisley. The clan militia fighters support the Somali gov’t troops in a bid to eliminate Alshabab fighters from Hirshabelle state. The Somali gov’t ferried the senior Ma’awisley officer using a military helicopter from the district in Middle Shabelle region and arrived in Mogadishu. Wabiir, who was part of Ma’awisley allied forces, appeared in a video recorded by Alshabab militant group. Later Wabiir was observed in gov’t and Ma’awisley controlled districts in Middle Shabelle region. This created suspicion that Wabir joined Al shabab militant group. This has put doubts on his loyalty. Major General Hassan Ali Nuur Shuute, the Chairman of the Somali Armed Forces Court, said that the gov’t launched an investigation into the senior Ma’awisley officer. Mr. Shuute further added that Wabiir is in safe hands.
