Reports from Bari region say that Puntland security forces prevented an attack that ISIS fighters stationed in Togga Miiraale were supposed to carry out.
Puntland security forces yesterday captured Dooxada Togga Miiraale where operations and fierce fighting occurred.
Security forces received secret information in advance, killed ISIS fighters who were trying to conduct an ambush, and suicide bomb explosions were heard in the area.
Commanders of Puntland Dervish forces who led the operations told the media that they killed ISIS fighters-most of them were foreign nationals.
Puntland displayed the corpses of ISIS fighters.
The attack came when Puntland Security forces were conducting operations which were aimed to flush out ISIS members from Togga Miiraale.
Dooxada Togga Miiraale was ISIS’s biggest base. It was a fortified base whereby ISIS fighters set up underground cavities.
Finally, the security forces carefully destroyed ISIS defense positions in Togga Miiraale and moved into the base.
Reports say that ISIS remnants are stationed a few areas that do not have strong defense lines.
Puntland Security forces captured strategic bases which were crucial for the group’s communications and networks.
This has weakened the operational capacities and mobilization of ISIS fighters.
A brief statement from Puntland authority said that the security flushed out ISIS fighters who were in underground cavities.
The second phase of operations which are aimed to drive out ISIS terrorist groups from Puntland is wrapping up.
During the operation, Puntland security forces met strong resistance from ISIS fighters and claimed the lives of several Puntland soldiers.
It was the first face to face fighting that Puntland security forces and ISIS fighters engaged for 12 hours since Feb. 2025.
ISIS fighters established strong defense positions in the mountain areas where they were hiding.
