The Somali Federal Gov’t has issued a stern warning to the Somali populace over its dealings with al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Alshabab.

The minister responsible for defense, Hon. Abdulkadir Mohamed Jama Nur has informed the public to stay away from areas under the control of Alshabab militant group.

The minister said that the Somali gov’t informed in advance of the danger the Somali populace is faced with while staying in areas under the control of the militant group.

He said that the public did not heed the directive issued by the government.

He further said that during airstrikes targeted El-Ba’ad, the local residents were staying and dealing with Alshabab.

He urged the public to stay away from areas under the control of Alshabab as the Gov’t and its allied friends are targeting the Al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group with bombings.

The reason for the minister has expressed his concern over the local residents living in Alshabab controlled areas is the fact that the government is minimizing civilian harm in these areas.

The warning comes at a time when the Somali government prepared its troops to launch large scale offensive against the militant group of Alshabab in Middle Shabelle region.
