Reports from lower Shabele say that members of Al-Shabab militants set truck that was transporting charcoal on fire. The truck was ambushed by the militants along the road at Basra area which links to Balcad and set them on fire. Al Shabab beheaded traders who were transporting food by using bull carts heading to Marka town. The reasons that lead to the militant’s action remain unknown.
