Airstrikes were conducted targeting Alshabab hideouts in Middle Shabelle region

According to reports, airstrikes were conducted targeting Daaru-Nimco district in Middle Shabelle region. The local residents living in Adan Yabal, Alkawsar and Daaru-Nimco districts were terrified over the magnitude of the airstrike.

The airstrike targeted Alshabab hideouts in Middle Shabelle region. Reports further indicate that heavy casualties were inflicted on Alshabab fighters but the exact number of casualties are not yet clear. The Somali gov’t has not issued a statement regarding the airstrikes that took place in areas nearby Adan Yabal district.

Another airstrike was conducted targeting Alshabab hideouts in nearby areas in El-Baraf town. Reports further said that the Somali troops withdrew from the town on military tactics. Three combat vehicles belonging to Alshabab fighters were destroyed in between Biyo-Adde and El-Baraf towns. Alshabab fighters on board of the combat vehicles were also killed during the airstrike. The Somali gov’t intensified its operations targeting Alshabab fighters stationed in Middle Shabelle region. The gov’t plan is to eliminate the threat posed by al-Qeada-linked terrorist group based in middle Shabelle region.
